Chinese Taipei U17 Menʹs Football Team Adopts StarBIA Athlete Body Composition Analysis Technology

In preparation for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers scheduled for late November, the Chinese Taipei U17 Menʹs Football Team has officially partnered with STARBIA MEDiTEK to integrate StarBIAʹs latest athlete body composition analysis technology (SA-701C), establishing more precise scientific training indicators for the national team.

Comprehensive Physiological Assessment for Enhanced Training Precision

STARBIA MEDiTEKʹs technical team has been deployed to the training facility to conduct multi-dimensional measurements for all team members, including muscle mass, phase angle, BIVA (Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis), and bone mineral density (BMD). These assessments provide real-time, quantified physiological status evaluations. Through scientific data, the coaching staff can better monitor playersʹ muscle development, recovery status, and body composition changes, identify potential injury risks such as muscle imbalances, and develop more precise individualized training programs.

Partnership Highlights

  • First implementation of multi-frequency + multi-vector athlete body composition analysis technology for a national U17 team
  • Assessment of key performance indicators: lower limb muscle mass, body water distribution, phase angle, and more
  • Real-time feedback on muscle imbalances and recovery capacity
  • Establishment of personalized sports science databases to support coaching staff in training planning and strategy adjustments

Taiwan-Developed Technology Supporting National Team Performance

The STARBIA SA-701C is a Taiwan-developed body composition analyzer with multiple patents. This partnership, jointly promoted by U17 Head Coach Po-Min Wang, Assistant Coach Yi-Wei Chen, and STARBIA MEDiTEK CEO Kun-Chang Hsieh, aims to establish a more solid training foundation for Taiwanʹs youth football players through the integration of sports science. Precise body composition monitoring assists the coaching staff in optimizing training arrangements and reducing sports injury risks.

A 20-Year Commitment to Sports Science

STARBIA MEDiTEK CEO Kun-Chang Hsieh shared a connection spanning across time. Eighteen years ago, when he began researching athlete body composition, current U17 Assistant Coach Yi-Wei Chen was among the first group of subjects. As a member of the Chinese Taipei national football team at the time, Coach Chenʹs body composition data revealed the distinctive characteristics of competitive athletes—a body fat percentage of merely 5-7% and bone density Z-score significantly higher than the norm.
An athleteʹs body is, of course, far more complex than just low body fat and high bone density; there are many more dimensions worth exploring. This understanding took root like a seed in STARBIA MEDiTEKʹs research soil and has continued to grow. Through nearly two decades of dedicated cultivation, the technology has evolved from simple body fat measurement into a comprehensive analysis system capable of capturing multi-faceted information including muscle quality, cellular health, and water balance. Today, the former test subject has become a coach, while the researcher has been able to transform accumulated knowledge into practical tools supporting the next generation of athletes.
